All about me! Sandra Dixon I have always loved creating. I could leave it at that, but I'll tell you a little more… My parents met in art school and both were wonderful artists. They went their separate ways when my brother, sister and I were young, but we were all always influenced by their creativity and individuality. My father has now passed on, but his amazing artwork lives on and keeps him close to my heart. My mother is still a big part of my life and her watercolors are amazing. It was wonderful growing up watching her getting out all her oil paints (or watercolors or acrylics) brushes, canvas or other surface on which to create, (and a nice glass of wine of course! : ), and set herself up for a day to work on an ongoing painting project. My father was a brilliant fine artist with one of the most unique styles I have ever seen, and I know most who knew him and his art will agree. I will include some of both of their beautiful and acclaimed artwork on my website eventually. I studied Fine Arts, Advertising and Graphic Design at both a Community College in Virginia Beach and at San Jose State University in the early 1990s. For the past ten years I've run my own graphic design business, Dixon Design. Feel free to check that out at www.DixonGraphics.com. But I still have the need to create. Not that graphic design isn't creative—it's still a wonderfully satisfying career. But most artists will tell you the same thing: I needed to express myself and create beauty and art with my hands. I'm so glad I discovered beading about a year ago. I made one necklace then and haven't been able to stop since! What a rewarding, fun and creative outlet this has been and I absolutely love sharing my creations with my beautiful family and friends, as well as new friends I meet along the way. The Need to Bead! I am just now putting up my new website. I have a lot of wonderful ideas to make it better and better each day (when I'm not beading!) so please check back often as more sections are posted and new jewelry is photographed, too! I welcome all your correspondence as well as ideas and suggestions. I am looking forward to having parties at homes, both selling parties and teaching parties!! Stay tuned… and contact me via email if you are interested in hosting a party. I always show my appreciation to the hostess!! Thanks for stopping by and I look forward to hearing from you! ~Sandra |
